Mary's diverse background in nursing, education and business uniquely qualfies her to assist in identifying the health-related needs of NextLogical's clients and members. Once a client's specific needs are identified and prioritized, Mary develops an action plan for approval and then moves forward with implmenetation. Depending upon each client's needs, her involvement might take the form of authoring an informational flyer, presenting a "Lunch and Learn" seminar to employees, conducting on-site blood pressure screenings, administering Health Risk Assessments, promoting a motivational contest, or any number of other hands-on wellness initiatives.
As a clinician, Mary has over 10 years of bedside nursing experience. She is skilled in working in critical care settings including surgical and medical intensive care, open heart, cardiovascular step down, intermediate medical care and progressive care units. This broad range of experience enables her to address most medical questions or concerns presented to her by our clients. Marys work as an agency nurse necessitates flexibility and accommodation to meet the diverse needs of her assigned patients. Years of experience have taught her to quickly acknowledge when she needs assistance and, whenever possible, to conduct thorough research to find answers on her own. This experience enables her to identify client educational needs, research the subject and share the medical information in laymans terms so as to best engage employees in healthier lifestyle behaviors.
Marys education started with 48 credit hours in Psychology along with a triple major in Special Education. She progressed to a BS in Business and Management from University of Maryland College Park and an MS in Business Administration from Boston University, Finally, Mary earned her BS in Nursing from Stevenson University. She is presently researching MS programs in nursing and education. Mary consistently achieved honor role recognition, was nominated to the scholastic honor society Alpha Chi and was inducted into the nursing honor society Sigma Theta Tau. In addition, she maintains certification in both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and pursues continuing education via professional journals and classes.
In the past, Mary has worked as a manager of Pizza Huts, a manager at Kindercares, a third grade teacher, an overseas crisis manager for the American Red Cross, a stock broker for a large Midwest firm and a recruiter of locum tenens physicians and computer professionals. Whew! Mary readily admits that she finally got it right when she went back to school for nursing.
In her free time, Mary works on her 90 year-old home, takes road trips with her two younger children and spends quality time with her 8 year-old granddaughter. In her quiet moments she enjoys reading, crocheting and catching-up with friends and family, near and far.
